Mira Çaushi-Bogdani

A lexicographer and translator. She records endangered craft terminology and translates linguistic scholarship from English and German.
Mira Çaushi-Bogdani began work in Gjakova in 1998, recording the terminology of craftsmen who were then still working. The resulting glossary holds four hundred and thirty terms, most of which appear in no earlier dictionary of Albanian.
Besides her lexicographic work she is KASP’s translator for linguistic scholarship and scientific editor of several titles in the Studies in Albanian series. She has written that translating comparative terminology is closer to editing than to translation: the wrong term breaks the argument.
